But if you only scratch the surface, you’re going to miss out on some of the most beautiful places and landmarks that Switzerland has to offer, so here’s my list of 10 stunning places to travel in Switzerland that will make your jaw drop. 1) Zermatt


Zermatt is a beautiful village tucked away in the Swiss Alps and is one of the most popular ski destinations on the continent. You can catch a train or take a bus to Zermatt from Zurich, Geneva, or Lausanne, then switch to one of the many cablecars that lead up and down the mountain. Once you reach Zermatt at 1,640 meters (5,330 feet) above sea level you'll be able to enjoy some skiing at Europe's largest ski area with over 200km of downhill trails. For those who prefer not to partake in winter sports, there are plenty of other things to do like visiting the Matterhorn museum where you'll learn about all there is about this iconic mountain peak.


2) Davos


Davos is a picturesque Swiss town located at the foot of the Alps. It has one of the most spectacular settings in all of Europe, with mountains encircling it and an old-fashioned train station winding up from the valley below. Rapperswil-Jona is a municipality on the lake of Zürich, in the Canton of Zürich, Switzerland. The municipality borders Rapperswil (SG), Horgen, and Rafz. In addition to Rapperswil-Jona itself, it also includes the settlements of Jona, Riesbach, Wichtrach, and Speicher. Rapperswil-Jona was awarded city rights by Rudolf II on September 25th, 1616.

Leukerbad is a picturesque little town nestled high up in the Swiss Alps. It's famous for its stunning views and its thermal baths. The natural hot springs are said to have healing properties for those with joint or muscle pain, nervous disorders, and skin ailments. There are many different types of baths available from saunas, slipper baths, and whirlpools. Leukerbad also has an interesting history: it was once home to a flourishing community of artists and writers who were drawn there by the natural beauty of the place but today it is mostly deserted except for tourists coming to enjoy the water.

The most popular food items to try here are fondue and raclette cheese dishes which can be enjoyed with bread or meat at one of the many restaurants around town. One not-so-well-known fact about Lucerne is that if you drink too much alcohol you may have a chance encounter with a unicorn!


8) Locarno


Locarno is a scenic lakeside town set on the banks of Lake Maggiore. Locals enjoy this small city for its relaxing atmosphere, mild climate, and natural beauty. A popular attraction is the Piazza Grande with a fountain and a marble statue of Hercules slaying the Hydra. Another beautiful site you shouldn't miss is Villa del Balbianello, which was built as a summer residence for one of Napoleon's family members.

Locarno also has plenty of vineyards and farms where you can stop by for wine tasting or take a tour through the countryside!

Nature, a town in the Zürich region of Switzerland, is most known for its outstanding food. With the city's many restaurants and cafés, it's hard not to find a good meal. Nater offers abundant outdoor activities such as hiking, cross-country skiing, cycling, and golfing. Or if you want something more relaxing you can enjoy the beautiful scenery from one of the many cafés or restaurants found on its cobbled streets.
